Overview

Ziba Hospice is a small, but rapidly growing family-oriented hospice agency currently located in Lakewood, California, and was founded in 2008 in Torrance. We serve a large portion of the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan area, including the West Side, South Bay, Long Beach, and parts of Orange County. We strive to provide the best quality care for our patients and their families. Ziba Hospice is a dedicated palliative care facility focused on providing comprehensive support and comfort to individuals in the final stages of life, as well as their families. The organization emphasizes a holistic approach, addressing not only the physical symptoms but also the emotional, spiritual, and social needs of patients. Key characteristics and services typically offered by Ziba Hospice include: Pain and Symptom Management: A primary focus is on controlling pain and other distressing symptoms like nausea, fatigue, and shortness of breath. This is achieved through a combination of medication, therapies, and complementary approaches, aiming to improve the patient's quality of life. Emotional and Psychological Support: Ziba Hospice understands the profound emotional impact of a life-limiting illness. They offer counseling for patients to help them cope with grief, anxiety, and depression. Family members also receive support to navigate their own emotional journeys. Spiritual Care: Recognizing the diverse spiritual needs of individuals, Ziba Hospice provides access to spiritual counselors or chaplains who can offer comfort, guidance, and facilitate religious practices if desired by the patient. This care is respectful of all beliefs and non-beliefs. Social Support: The hospice team helps patients and families access community resources and support networks. This can include assistance with practical matters, financial guidance, and connecting families with support groups. Bereavement Support: Ziba Hospice's care extends beyond the patient's passing. They typically offer bereavement counseling and support groups for families, helping them through the grieving process for an extended period after their loved one has died. Interdisciplinary Team: The care at Ziba Hospice is delivered by an interdisciplinary team of professionals. This often includes doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors, spiritual advisors, and trained volunteers, all working collaboratively to provide integrated care. Focus on Dignity and Quality of Life: The overarching philosophy of Ziba Hospice is to ensure that patients can live their remaining time with dignity, comfort, and as much quality of life as possible, in an environment that respects their wishes and values. Family-Centered Care: Ziba Hospice views the family as an integral part of the care unit. They actively involve families in decision-making, educate them about the patient's condition, and provide them with the necessary support to navigate the challenges of end-of-life care. Home-Based and Inpatient Care: Depending on the patient's needs and the hospice's model, Ziba Hospice may offer services in the patient's home, allowing them to remain in a familiar environment, or at a dedicated inpatient facility for more intensive care when necessary. In essence, Ziba Hospice aims to provide compassionate, personalized care that allows individuals to experience their final journey with peace and comfort, while also supporting their loved ones every step of the way.
