We want to know what equipment Medicare provides when we choose home hospice for a loved one.

I think it really depends on the person and what the family is comfortable managing. Being at home can be nice because the person is in a familiar place and doesn’t have to adjust to a new environment. But it can also be a lot for the family if more hands-on care is needed.
Inpatient hospice may be a better fit when symptoms are harder to manage or the family simply can’t provide the level of care needed at home. I’d probably talk through both options with the hospice team and see what makes the most sense for the person rather than choosing one just because it sounds better on paper.
Medicare can provide some of the medical equipment needed for hospice at home, depending on the person’s needs and the hospice care plan. Things like a hospital bed, wheelchair, walker or oxygen equipment may be included. I’d ask the hospice provider what they’ll arrange and what is actually covered for the specific situation. They can usually explain what equipment and supplies are needed and how they’ll be provided.
